Endorsements Requiring a Rewrite

Some policy updates/endorsements requiring the policy to be rewritten.

Effective Date: Once a policy is purchased, the effective date cannot be modified. If a date adjustment is needed, you, as a producer, can cancel and rewrite a new policy with the correct start date, as long as the requested date has not passed.

• Refund Policy:
  • If the policy is canceled before it starts, the insured will receive a full refund.
  • If the policy has already begun, the insured will receive a pro-rated refund calculated on a short-rate basis for the unused premium.

End Dates: Adjusting end dates is more flexible, provided the policy hasn’t concluded:

• On-Demand & Event Policies allow for end date extensions, but these must be processed before the policy ends. Once a policy has reached its end time, extensions are no longer possible. A new policy would have to be purchased for those additional days. We do not backdate coverage.
• Thimble Monthly Policies automatically extend each month but can be managed in your Broker Portal or by the client in their Customer Portal.

Address and Named Insured Changes

Address and Named Insured corrections are handled on a case-by-case basis. To request a correction, click the link (see image below) in your portal to open a form in a new window, where you can complete and submit your change request. Our team will follow up if additional information is needed. Please note that certain updates to business contact information may require canceling the existing policy and issuing a new one.

• • Zip Code Changes: Zip codes cannot be modified on an active policy. If a business address update involves a zip code change, the policy must be canceled, and a new one issued with the updated address. Please create the new policy and contact us for assistance with the cancellation.

  • Email Address Changes: Producers cannot directly update the email address on a policy. However, clients can update the email they use to access their portal. If an agency email was used to approve the policy initially, a policy rewrite will be required to update it.
